Ukraine hits ground-control station for Banderol drones in Kherson
Ukraine's defence forces struck a storage, preparation and launch site for attack UAVs, as well as several systems used to control Russian drones in occupied Crimea and Kherson Oblast on the night of 16-17 August. The strikes included a ground-control station for the Banderol drone, a rare Russian drone that fires missiles at 650 km/h with a 114-kg warhead.
Why it matters
This operation targets Russian drone infrastructure, potentially degrading their reconnaissance and strike capabilities in the region.
What's unclear
- The exact extent of damage to the Banderol ground-control station is not specified.
- It is unclear whether the strikes in Crimea and Kherson were part of a single coordinated operation.
