Heavy North Korean KN-30 missiles put seven Ukrainian oblasts in danger zone
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on Aug. 20 that Russia is preparing to intensify ballistic missile strikes against seven Ukrainian oblasts using North Korean KN-23, KN-24, and KN-30 systems deployed in Voronezh Oblast.
Why it matters
This indicates a potential escalation in missile attacks on Ukraine, with the use of North Korean-supplied missiles expanding the threat to multiple regions.
What's unclear
- Which specific oblasts are at risk?
- What is the timeline for the anticipated strikes?
- What evidence does ISW base this assessment on?
