Russia Hits Kyiv Cardiology Institute’s Operating Room
Russian forces struck an operating room at Kyiv's Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology on Tuesday, Oct. 20, injuring one patient, according to Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, as reported by the Kyiv Post. The report says this is the second strike on the heart center, which serves patients nationwide, after a September 2025 strike killed two people there.
Why it matters
The institute is described as a national heart center, and the report says it was previously struck in September 2025 with fatal results.
What's unclear
- What type of weapon was used and how much damage the institute sustained
- The condition of the injured patient
- Whether the strike was independently verified beyond the prime minister's statement
