Privacy Policy

What Iran Live Map collects, why, and the choices you have.

Who is responsible

Iran Live Map (live-iran-map.com) is operated as an independent publication from Sweden and is the data controller for the processing described here. You can reach the operator at support@live-iran-map.com or through the contact page.

What we collect when you read the site

  • Server and edge logs from our hosting provider Vercel: IP address, browser identifier, requested address and time, kept for a short period for security and debugging.
  • Usage analytics through Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation and through Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. Analytics tell us which pages are read and how the site performs; they are not used to identify you.
  • Advertising cookies and identifiers set by Google AdSense on content pages, described below.
  • Settings you choose, such as a dismissed banner or the analytics opt-out, stored in your browser only.

What we collect when you create an account

  • Your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name and email address Google shares, handled through our authentication provider Supabase.
  • Saved incidents, watched locations, alert preferences and brief preferences, so the site can show them on your devices.
  • Usage counters for the AI tools, and a technical identifier derived from your device and network that enforces fair-use limits on the guest AI trial.
  • If paid plans are offered, your subscription status from our payment provider Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe and never reach our servers.

Reports and messages

When you report a problem or email us we keep the message, the page it concerns and, if you are signed in or give it, your email address, for as long as needed to act on it.

AI tools

Questions you type into the analyst chat, together with the reporting needed to answer them, are sent to our AI model provider, DeepSeek, whose servers are outside the European Economic Area, to generate the answer. Do not include personal data in your questions. The briefs on incident pages are generated from public reporting only and contain no user data.

Advertising and Google cookies

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

Where the law requires it, personalised ads are only served after you give consent through the consent message shown on your first visit. You can change that choice at any time with the privacy settings link in the footer. Ads are not requested on the map console, on the sign-in and account screens, on this page, or on incident pages that do not carry an editorial brief.

Analytics choices

Google Analytics can be switched off for this browser with the control at the bottom of this page, which stores a single setting in your browser and reloads the page, or by opening any page of the site with ?analytics=off added to the address. Vercel Web Analytics sets no cookies and cannot identify you.

  • Supabase (database, authentication and server functions), hosted in the EU (Stockholm).

Legal basis and retention
