US restores ballistic missile warnings to Ukraine after a week without advance notice before Russian…
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the US has restored ballistic missile warnings to Ukraine, according to Euromaidan Press. The report says Ukraine received no advance alerts during multiple Russian ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv over the past week, leaving no time to warn civilians before impact.
Why it matters
The report frames the warning channel as a factor in how much time Kyiv has to alert civilians before ballistic missile strikes.
What's unclear
- When exactly the warnings resumed and whether any attacks occurred after restoration
- Why the advance alerts stopped during the prior week
- How many attacks occurred in the week without warnings and what damage or casualties resulted
